Carambole Chocolate bonbon making workshops - what to expect?

Updated: 6 days ago

Bonbon making workshop is my signature event that unlocks the full potential of chocolate. You'll have an opportunity to spend the day like a real chocolatier, creating hand-painted, delicious chocolate bonbons from scratch.

"It’s too beautiful to eat!"; "I could never create it myself!” - I sometimes hear my guests say that during workshops.

Guests at the bonbon making workshop are getting creative, painting the moulds, preparing to create shells for the bonbons and add the fillings.

If a guest has never worked with chocolate before they might feel overwhelmed because they might think they're not creative enough. But once we start and I guide them step by step, something changes - their doubt turns into excitement. By the end of the workshop, they’re thrilled, realising they’ve created something complex and beautiful with their own hands.

You know what's the best feeling? When you see them let go and create without overthinking, straight from the gut feeling.

They come up with designs that are stunning—designs that even a professional chocolatier might not think of, as we tend to stick to familiar ideas. One guest designed a coral-inspired bonbon, something simple yet truly beautiful. I told her that I would dedicate a bonbon to her design because it had inspired me so much.

We don't teach professionals here. It’s not about a crash course in bonbon-making techniques, as that takes long, meticulous work. It’s about unlocking creativity. It’s for anyone who’s ever doubted their ability to create or been told they’re “not an artist.”

We work to break down those barriers. People walk away not just with chocolates they created, but with the confidence that they can create something beautiful.

Added bonus? When people make chocolates with their own hands - pouring the chocolate, colouring each bonbon - they start to understand how much effort, time, and material goes into the process. It helps them appreciate the true value of handcrafted chocolate.

Bonbon making workshop - how does it go?

The quickest and the most illustrative way to make an impression about Carambole bonbon-making workshop is to watch the video below ⬇️

Not a fan of videos? No problem! Here is the step-by-step description of what bonbon making workshops are like.

This workshop typically consists of 4 main parts.

1. Introduction: "What's bean-to-bar and how is craft chocolate created?"

We’ll start by exploring the world of bean-to-bar chocolate. You'll learn what makes this chocolate so special - how it’s crafted from cacao beans sourced directly from small sustainable plantations around the globe, with each bean carrying the unique flavor profile of its region, much like wine terroir.

  1. Tasting session

Get those taste buds ready! We’ll taste 5-6 types of extraordinary bean-to-bar chocolate from around the world, including rare varieties from places like Japan and Cuba. Each chocolate will tell a story through its taste—vibrant, surprising, and layered. Of course, Carambole bonbons will be part of the experience! Each bonbon, hand-crafted with artistic flair and avant-garde flavors, will surprise and delight your palate.

  1. Bonbon-making begins!

Now it’s your turn to step into the shoes of a chocolatier! You'll learn the fundamentals of tempering chocolate—a critical skill for achieving that glossy finish and perfect satisfying crackle of chocolate shell. Next, you'll decorate and mold the bonbon shells, picking those flavour combinations you find the most exhilarating.

  1. Time to wrap it up

By the end of the session, you'll have crafted your own unique bonbons to take home. And one more thing to take away - the experience filled with flavors, stories, and hands-on artistry.

Congratulations, you’ve spent the day like a real chocolatier!
